To
celebrate the last week of after-school at Times2 Academy, the Charter
Corps team worked together to end the 2011-2012 school year with a
bang. To celebrate the beginning of summer, Charter
Corps provided after school activities open to all 3rd-6th grade
students at Times2 regardless of whether or not they stayed for
after-school on a regular basis.
On
Monday students participated in "Summer Day" themed activities.
Students enjoyed a special treat of ice cream and were able to
participate in a water balloon toss. They were also able
to take advantage of the Times2 and Hopkins Park playgrounds to enjoy
the beautiful June weather.
On
Tuesday students had a blast participating in "Video Games Live". They
were given the opportunity to play life-size versions of Tetris, Duck
Hunt, Angry Birds, Wii Sports, Mario Obstacle
Course and Pacman. The students had a blast exploring all of the real
life simulations of the video games they know and love.
On
Wednesday students watched two different movies, "Rio" and "Captain
America", while enjoying a delicious movie theater popcorn snack.
Following the movie students were able to burn their
energy from sitting through the movie by running relay races and
playing the game "Octopus".
Finally
on Thursday students attended a Hawaiian Luau Dance to conclude the
week of festivities. Before the dance students enjoyed a special snack
of juice and fruit snacks. During the dance
students participated in a hula hoop competition, limbo game, hula
contest, and of course, dancing! Students really enjoyed the fact that
there were competitive activities mixed into the dance. Time2 definitely
has some very talented hula hoopers and the competition
was very steep!
