This afterschool session at Highlander, staff member Mercy and I have teamed up to teach an activity called "Beauty Shop" for 5th-8th grade girls. We split the girls each week into two groups, they rotate between learning how to braid with Mercy and learning new and creative nail design techniques with me! The first week I asked the girls what they would be interested in learning how to do and I showed them a bunch of pictures from online nail art blogs. They were all really souped on the 'magazine nail' look so the following week, I showed them how to achieve that look. With just some magazine clippings and rubbing alcohol, the girls quickly were able to nail down the skills and this is what their awesome manicures looked like!
